In the 1760s, during Louis XV reign, a new type of commode, the Cartonnier, emerged, it was influenced by spectacular ancient Greek furniture concepts. The front was beautifully ornamented with friezes, trophies of arms and heads of lions, and replicas of classical Greek statues on the top.
